National Police in Ceuta have arrested a man after he stabbed his wife with a kitchen knife at their home in the Loma Colmenar district.
The woman suffered serious injuries to the abdomen and cuts to her arms as she tried to defend herself. She eventually escaped her attacker and was taken to the Hospital Universitari.
The attack took place in the early hours of Friday morning. There is no prior record of abuse within the family and the reasons for the attack are as yet unknown. The couple have three children.
Police were alerted to the incident when the husband called the police and told them he had just stabbed his wife.
