Electricity up 7%, gas up by 5%

On Saturday the Official State Gazette (BOE) published details of the decree requiring the cost of the electricity system to be reduced and today, April 1st, the price to the consumer has increased by 7%.

The electricity tariff deficit has changed from being a temporary result of temporary imbalances between revenues and costs to being a structural problem which needs addressing in order to ensure an economically sustainable system and to maintain the security of the electricity supply.

The Tarif of Last Resort (TUR) for gas has also risen as from today, up by 5%. This equates to an extra €23 per year for the average consumer.
