The provincial deputy Minister and president of the Nerja Caves Foundation, Jorge Hernández Mollar, the Mayor of Nerja and vice-president of the Nerja Caves Foundation, José Alberto Armijo, and the president of the Provincial Government, Elías Bendodo, have apparently agreed that the Nerja Caves should not be used as a political tool but should be managed on the basis of technical and cultural considerations.
The new manager of the Nerja Caves is Angel Ruiz. He has a degree in Information Science and spent 14 years managing the Nerja Cultural Centre before becoming a cultural advisor.
