A fire which began at around 17:15 on Tuesday afternoon near the town of Jubrique in the lower Valle del Genal has destroyed at least 21 hectares of pine and cork trees.
The fire was stabilised at 20:50 on Tuesday evening as firemen with air support fought the blaze, although it was not brought under control. Initial investigations suggest that the fire was started intentionally.
There are no reports of injuries and plans have been made to evacuate homes in the area should this be deemed necessary.
