The cereal harvest in the Serrania de Ronda is down by 29.5% this year, the main reason being the lack of rainfall.
The harvest, which has just finished, is around 12 million kilos, compared to the 16 to 17 million kilos harvested last year. the quality of the cereal, however, is said to be very good.
Cereal production covers roughly 12,000 hectares in the Serrania de Ronda. As regards prices, one kilo will be at a similar rate to last year, around €0.26 per kilo, which means that farmers will be unlikely to cover their production costs.
