The National Police in Madrid have detained a suspect relating to the shooting incident during an attempted robbery last Wednesday in Vallecas in which one police officer was killed and another was injured.
The detainee is 42 year old David Manuel Fernández Rodríguez, a Spanish national but born in Nancy, France, and now living in Madrid. Rodriguez was identified as a suspect in the case because he is the owner of the van used in the robbery of the Post Office and has 14 prior arrests for robbery with violence.
Police are now looking for the second person involved in the robbery.
