One person has died and three others have been injured in a forest fire in La Torre de les Maçanes, Alicante.
It is not yet known whether the deceased was associated with the Fire Brigade as relatives are being informed before any details are released. Two of the injured are in Alicante General Hospital and one is in Alcoy Hospital.
A group of around 130 children at a summer camp in finca Los Castellanos in La Torre de les Maçanes have been evacuated as a precautionary measure.
Eighteen aircraft are currently involved in fighting the blaze alongside firefighters and members of the Emergency Military Unit.
The fire is thought to have been caused by the engine failure of a vehicle, flames shooting out when the hood was opened.
