Start of storm damage assessment

Málaga Council has held its first meeting to discuss and assess the recent storm damage with the aim of producing a single document for submission to the Government.

The priority is to analyse damage and finalise the allocation of possible aid in relation to infrastructure, roads, farms and livestock and individual municipalities have 15 days in submit details.

Once this is completed, the committee will meet to collate this information, plus data from Málaga Council itself and the Junta de Andalucia, into a single dossier for submission to the Government to study.

The Council is also trying to restore water supplies to Alpandeire, Benaoján, Montejaque, Villanueva del Trabuco, Villanueva del Rosario, Valle de Abdalajís, Mollina and Álora.

Villanueva del Rosario has decided to reduce its upcoming celebrations and spend the money to help 83 families affected by the floods.

As far as damage to private property is concerned, those who were insured should receive compensation based upon the assessments made by the relevant insurance company experts.

Those who were not insured will be reliant upon assessments made by the Insurance Compensation Consortium.
