An 83 year old man died and five other people were injured in a fire on Saturday at a nursing home in Écija.
The fire occurred at around 23:00 and first indications are that it was caused by someone smoking in bed. The deceased was the roommate of the man who was smoking.
The home was evacuated and five people had to be treated for minor injuries, mostly light burns and smoke inhalation. Two of the injured required hospital treatment but were subsequently discharged.
