Nerja Council has announced plans to increase the template of the local Fire Brigade from 9 to 15 personnel and to extend the current ‘temporary’ premises by the Burriana roundabout with extra modules and a gymnasium.
The Council is still hoping that the Junta de Andalucia will honour the agreement signed with the Council to build a new Fire Park to cover the needs of not only Nerja but all surrounding municipalities. Land for the new Fire Park was ceded to the Málaga Provincial Council in 2008.
Since 2008, the Ministry of Interior of the Junta de Andalucia has blocked the project but the Council still hopes to persuade them to change their minds and honour their agreement.
