Three days of official mourning have been declared in Los Barrios, Cádiz province, after a five year old girl died on Saturday afternoon at the sports centre Las Marismas in Palmones.
The accident happened at around 16:45 while the young girl was doing fitness exercises on a set of mobile bars. The unit had a folding metal top with a granite slab for stability. However, it is thought that the performance of the exercises caused the slab to come loose and fall, hitting the young girl on the head and causing her death.
Police are investigating the incident.
