A three year old girl died on Friday afternoon in a household accident at a home in avenida Barcelona in Santa Perpètua de Mogoda, Barcelona.
Fire crews were sent to the scene after neighbours reported thick, black smoke coming from the home. However, upon arrival, the firefighters saw no sign of a fire although it could already have been extinguished.
What they did find was the body of a three year old girl with major burns to her front. It is thought that these were caused either by an electrical shock due to accidental contact with a mains plug or a small household fire.
The mother of the girl was treated for shock.
