Local Police in Benamocarra have arrested a 23 year old man on suspicion of theft during a supposed petition signing.
The man, accompanied by a woman, approached the victim in calle Federico García Lorca to ask her to sign a petition to save a centre for the disabled in Málaga. After signing the petition, she was asked for a donation but declined.
The scammers then gave her a hug in appreciation for the signature and took the opportunity to steal the woman’s purse. The pair then fled on foot.
The man, with a prior record of similar crimes, was caught a short while later and arrested.
