SEPRONA, the nature wing of the Guardia Civil, has asked for the danger signs and watchtowers to remain in Mijas after a number of experts expressed doubts that the body of the crocodile found on Monday was the one for which they had actually been searching.
After an initial examination of the body, doubts have been raised as to whether the tracks found near the ponds correspond to the deceased animal. In addition, the only person to have seen the crocodile, 37 year old gardener Mario Calvente, has stated that it is not the same creature he reported sighting.
According to the eye witness, the crocodile he saw was much larger that the one found on Monday.
