Police have arrested a priest and a school principal in connection with allegations of severe corporal punishment and non-consensual touching of the erogenous zones of children aged between 12 years and 14 years.
The priest, aged 40 years, and the principal were arrested following a police investigation into a complaint made by the parents of one of the youngest children involved. The investigation has so far resulted in a dozen pupils coming forward to corroborate the allegations.
It is thought that the number of children involved could be a lot higher. The announcement of the arrests is likely to trigger parents to talk to their children about the subject.
