Plea for help

The Donkey Sanctuary is a popular attraction for both young and old and relies on volunteers and donations to keep going. What the sanctuary desperately needs at the moment is volunteers, as is explained in this note from the Donkey Sanctuary.

We are desperately in need of volunteers. On some days of the week, we only have one person (Harriet) to carry out all of the work including feeding and caring for the animals as well as greeting our visitors. Needless to say, looking after the animals in our care is our top priority but this is also our busiest season for visitors. We pride ourselves on treating our visitors well, hence the TripAdviser award, but Harriet cannot do everything on her own. Visitors are also our biggest source of regular income and, therefore, essential to our continued existence.

Are you able to help? Even if you only have a couple of hours to spare, or are only available for a few weeks, that time would be most welcome. You might want to help feed and muck out the animals and/or you might prefer to meet and greet our visitors. Full training is given in all aspects of our work which is rewarding and, above all, good fun. Volunteers of all ages are welcomed although, if you are under 16, you would require your parent’s permission.

For more details about our work, please see the website www.nerjadonkeysanctaury.com. This also gives details of how to find us.

If you think that you might be able to help out, please ring Harriet on 618 467 575 or e-mail [email protected]. Alternatively, pop in to the Sanctuary to see her any day of the week between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. or between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m.

Please help us to look after these lovely animals.
