In what is the fifth motion this year relating to the proposed Fire Park to be built in Nerja, the Council has approved a motion requesting the president of the Málaga Provincial Council, Elías Bendodo, through the Provincial Fire Consortium, to jointly fund the construction project with the municipality of Nerja.
The mayor of Nerja, José Alberto Armijo, has stated that Nerja Council is prepared to contribute a ‘reasonable percentage’ of the funding necessary for the construction of this ‘important’ project which was approved by the Junta de Andalucia some seven years ago.
The draft project for the proposed access road to the Fire Station is being prepared with a grant from the Provincial Council.
The mayor lamented the indifference and silence on the part of the regional government relating to the subject of the Fire Park over the past several years.
The co-funding is seen as a possible way forward until the Junta de Andalucia actually decides to honour the existing agreements, becomes actively involved and provides the necessary finance.
