A total of nine companies have submitted bids for the renovation of the Camino del Rey, the scenic enclave passing through Ardales, Álora and Antequera.
The work will be taking place at a height of around 100 metres and climbers and helicopter support will be necessary.
The bidders are Ucop-Helopav S. A., Ceinsa Contratas e Ingeniería S. A., Acciona Infraestructuras S. A., Construcciones San José S. A., OHL S. A., EOC S. A., Sando, Sardesa and Guamar.
The bids will now be studied and a decision made in February. The winning company will have to deposit 5% of the contract price and prepare a health and safety plan. The original budget for the works is €3.12 million and it is hoped that the Camino d3el Rey can be reopened to the public in 2015.
