According to the Councillor of Commerce, Nieves Atencio, the central streets of Nerja will have awnings during the summer to shelter pedestrians from the heat.
The Council has received a grant of €69,700 from the Ministry of Tourism and Commerce for the purpose and they are hoping to start the project in June so that everything is in place for August, traditionally the hottest month of the year.
