A unit of the Provincial Commissariat of the National Police will be in Nerja on Thursday May 29th 2014 for anyone wishing to obtain or renew the DNI (Documento Nacional de Identidad – National Identity Document). An appointment will be necessary and this can be arranged either at the Municipal Office of Citizen Services on the second floor of the Town Hall in calle Carmen or by calling 95 254 84 00.
The unit will be located in the headquarters of the Nerja Local Police in calle Virgen del Pilar from 09:30 to 13:30.
For a first DNI, you will need a photo, birth certificate, copy of the padrón entry (census). If the applicant is a minor, then he or she must be accompanied by a parent with a current DNI.
For renewal of the DNI, you will need the expired DNI, a photo, birth certificate if there has been any change of personal data and a copy of the padrón if there has been any change of address.
If the DNI to be renewed is one of the old blue documents, the copy of the padrón is essential. If the renewal is due to the theft of the original document, you will need a copy of the police complaint form. The cost of the DNI is €10.50 in all cases.
