Fifty or not?

The old image of San Isidro is now in the iglesia El Salvador on the Balcón de Europa, Nerja, and after having been restored it will be used in the San Isidro celebrations on May 15th along with the new image.

The former image of San Isidro, made from plasterboard, was located in the old Cerro de los Cancharrrales hermitage but disappeared a few years ago. It was later found, in poor condition, in an old famhouse and has been restored by local resident Luis Fernández.

The Council is also asking local residents to help clarify whether this year’s celebrations are the 50th anniversary of the festival or not. Some people apparently believe that this year is the 50th anniversary, others say it is next year.
