Summer clampdown on unlicensed street vendors

The Local Police apparently carried out their annual summer clampdown on unlicensed street vendors this past weekend and this year, according to the Council, the controls will be maintained throughout the summer.

The police seized a number of counterfeit items, such as fake brand watches, hats, sunglasses, backpacks, swimwear and handbags.

If the controls do continue, this could mean an end to the almost incessant line of sellers approaching terrace diners or those sitting out having a quiet drink – our record is twelve sellers approaching our table during a single meal!

The Local Police also confiscated a number of bags containing bottles of alcohol in Parque Verano Azul, Plaza Pepe Pascual, Plaza Las Terrazas and other areas. This action was carried out under the Andalucian Antibottellón Law 7/2006 of October 24th which prohibits street-drinking parties within the municipality.
