Nerja is set to receive €135,000 from the Málaga Provincial Council and the Association of Municipalities of the Costa del Sol-Axarquia for the improvement of beach equipment.
The Málaga Provincial Council and the Association of Municipalities of the Costa del Sol-Axarquia are funding a Tourist Investment Plan for the municipalities of the Costa del Sol and interior to the value of €1.5 million, the Provincial Council providing 80% of the funds and the Commonwealth the remaining 20%.
For the coastal municipalities, €750,000 is destined for Rincon de la Victoria, Vélez Málaga, Algarrobo, Torrox and Nerja and it will be distributed proportionally according to beach area.
The remaining €750,000 is destined for 26 municipalities in the interior of the province and the distribution of the funds will be based upon population.
According to the Mayor of Nerja, José Alberto Armijo, the funding for Nerja will be used for the installation of walkways, showers, toilets and signs on the beaches in the municipality. The work will be carried out by the Association of Municipalities.
