The ‘portal rapist’ re-arrested on suspicion of several sexual assaults

Pablo García Ribado, known as the ‘portal rapist’ and who was released from prison in November 2013 after the repeal of the ‘Parot Doctrine’, has been arrested in Trijueque, Guadalajara, on suspicion of several counts of sexual assault.

The ‘portal rapist’ was sentenced to a total of 1,721 years in prison in September 1996 for 74 violations, six sexual assaults and ten counts of robbery after being arrested in 1993 in Madrid. He was 24 years old at the time of his arrest.

On March 5th 2010, the Sixth Section of the Provincial Court of Madrid, under the ‘Parot Doctrine’, agreed that the date of completion of the sentence should be ended on October 4th, 2023 and not April 23, 2010 as initially had been set.

The European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg, however, ruled that the so-called ‘Parot doctrine’ violated the provisions of Article 7 of the European Convention on Human Rights and a new assessment was made, as a result of which Pablo García Ribado would have completed his sentence on April 13th 2010.

Pablo García Ribado left the Herrera de la Mancha prison on November 13th 2013. He is now back in custody.
