In September, the Málaga Provincial Council and the Association of Municipalities of the Costa del Sol-Axarquia announced the funding a Tourist Investment Plan for the municipalities of the Costa del Sol and interior to the value of €1.5 million, the Provincial Council providing 80% of the funds and the Commonwealth the remaining 20%.
For the coastal municipalities, €750,000 is destined for Rincon de la Victoria, Vélez Málaga, Algarrobo, Torrox and Nerja, to be distributed proportionally according to beach area.
Now, the Local Government team has voted to approve receiving these funds.
According to the Mayor of Nerja, José Alberto Armijo, the funding for Nerja will be used for the installation of walkways, showers, toilets, amphibios chairs, ecological bins, lifeguard towers and signs on the beaches in the municipality. The work will be carried out by the Association of Municipalities.
