Good turnout for annual beach race

Almost 300 people completed the annual Half League race on Burriana beach at the weekend. One league equals 5.556 kilometres.

Out and About May 5th 2013…

A glorious day and quite a few people down on Burriana beach and around lunchtime most of the merenderos were full to the rafters – Ayo’s, La Barca and José Cruz in particular.

The TV cameras have been busy in Nerja, with the town being featured in the TVE1 programme La Mañana. Viewers had to guess where the TV crew were from shots of the town and a fairly easy clue given by Ayo on Burriana beach in an interview with Antón López.

The wind got up and was quite strong at times and the sea was pretty rough. The walk down Cardiac Hill isn’t that bad, but the return…..So, off for lunch at Ayo’s and check out what’s happening on Burriana. Long walk! A bit of action in calle Carabeo, a huge digger there at the moment. Still stinks to high heaven …

Friday August 22nd is the 16th running, literally, of the Media Legua Playa de Burriana, a strange race in honour of Francisco Ortega Olalla, better known as ‘Ayo’.

I was down at Burriana beach today and although car parking was at a premium, as usual, it was definitely not as busy as in previous years.
