Local Police in Fuengirola carried out over 100 breath tests over the Christmas period at 14 control points throughout the town. Around 4% of those tested produced a positive result for excessive alcohol levels.
Clothing for the needy
Fuengirola Council is trying to encourage people to donate their unwanted clothing to the various associations in the town, such as Caritas, Red Cross, Lion’s Club, Fuensocial and AECC as the Council itself has no containers for such items.
Council to invest €650,000 for the cleaning of schools
The Council is to invest €650,000 in the maintenance and cleaning of a dozen schools and colleges in the municipality. The new concessionaire will not only provide the regular cleaning services but will also provide personnel to be available to perform urgent tasks.
Fuengirola promenade to be official exercise circuit
The promenade in Fuengirola is often used by members of the public for exercise, so the Council has decided to make it an ‘official circuit’ and will next week start installing various signs.
Designed to impress
In an initiative by Fuengirola Council designed to improve quality of service, employees at the Municipal Tourist Office have been provided with a smart new uniform based on the brand ‘Fuengirola de moda’.
Robbery gang arrested
The National Police and Guardia Civil have arrested six people, two of them minors, as suspected members of a gang carrying out robberies, often with violence, in Fuengirola and Mijas.
‘Pintura Libre’ in Parque de España
Every Sunday, starting on December 16th, the Parque de España in Fuengirola will be home to a new project called ‘Pintura Libre’, whereby artists can display their work to the public without having to pay a fee to the Council for occupying the public thoroughfares.
Fuengirola Council allocates €50,000 for pest control
Fuengirola Council has allocated €50,000 for pest control and has extended the concession to the company Athisa for a further year. So far year, 7,200 wells/water deposits have been treated for low-level infection as well as interventions in schools and municipal buildings and facilities.
Christmas Market in Fuengirola
The sixth annual Christmas Market in Plaza de la Constitución in Fuengirola will this year be expanded to three days, until December 12th. Around 16 local businesses will be participating and the market will be continuously open between 10.00 and 22.00.
New municipal ordinance relating to road improvements
Fuengirola Council has incorporated a new Works and Services on the Public Highway ordinance which makes it compulsory for service companies to ensure that all piping is placed underground at the time any roadworks are carried out.
