47 migrants intercepted off Almeria

Three boats carrying a total of 47 Algerian adult male migrants have so far been intercepted in the waters off Almeria. The boats were located at 05:00, 10:00 and noon on Saturday.

Another seven boats intercepted

The mini armadas keep coming, another seven small inflatable boats intercepted on their way from North Africa to the Spanish mainland. A total of 249 migrants have been intercepted since Saturday.

21 migrants rescued off Motril

The merchant ship ‘Mermaid’ came to the rescue of 21 North African migrants whose small, flimsy craft was having difficulty staying afloat.

Seven migrants intercepted off the Granada coast

Seven adult North African male migrants were intercepted this morning off the coast of Granada. The small dinghy, barely four metres in length, was spotted by the cameras of the SIVE surveillance system and Maritime Rescue vessels were sent to intercept. The passengers, all in good health, were taken to the port of Motril for processing.

Search for missing boat carrying migrants

Maritime Rescue vessels are searching for a boat reportedly carrying up to 50 sub-Saharan migrants. The boat left Morocco on Monday and is thought to be somewhere in the Alboran Sea.

15 more migrants arrive in Tarifa

Another two boats carrying a total of 15 migrants were intercepted today southeast of Tarifa. The Maritime Rescue vessel Salvamar Alkaid had intercepted the first boat carrying 7 adult males when it spotted a second boat about two miles away. All the passengers were taken to Tarifa for processing.
