Torrox to Nerja road reopens

The old N-340 coastal road between Torrox Costa and Nerja is once again open to traffic after being closed for 14 days due to problems caused by the rains. A temporary diversion using the hard shoulder is currently in place and the recommended speed limit on this section is 30 kph.

The section of the old N-340 between Torrox and Nerja will remain closed until Monday January 11th due to a rockslide near Calaceite beach. Work is being carried out to stabilise the cliff face.

The old N-340 coast road at km 287, on its way through Torrox, is still closed off after a landslide in the area during the recent storms.

Dubious honour

The road between Maro and Almuñecar, the old N-340 coast road, has the dubious honour of being classified as the third most dangerous stretch of road in the country according to a risk assessment study carried out by EuroRAP in conjunction with the Royal Automobile Club of Spain.

The Ministry of Public Works is set to invest €3,300,000 in improvements to the old N-340 coastal road between Vélez-Málaga and Nerja.
