The dispute between the Market Traders Association and the Nerja Council continues, the traders once again refusing to set up their stalls yesterday.

Nerja was once again without its weekly market yesterday as the street traders continue their protest against the new site in Almijara.

It is now seven weeks since Nerja had a weekly market as the dispute between the market traders and the Council continues.

The meeting between the Nerja market traders and the Local Council actually took place on Friday after being postponed a couple of times.

The Nerja Council is asking for further protest marches by market traders to be stopped.

No weekly market in Nerja yesterday as the dispute continues for a sixth week.

Peace talks between the Market Traders and the Nerja Council, scheduled for today, have been postponed until next week. Talks between the Market Traders Association, AVAM, and the Nerja Council were due to take place today but have been postponed until next week, possibly now taking place on Monday.

Although both sides in the dispute remain defiant, the Nerja market traders and the local Council are to meet for talks in an attempt to resolve the issue.

After four years of paperwork and constant announcements of ‘very soon’, the weekly market in Nerja will move to its new location in Almijara on June 24th.
