Talks have reportedly resumed between the authorities in Rincón de la Victoria and Nerja and the Department of Coasts to resolve outstanding issues and begin the construction of planned promenades in the shortest time possible.
Nerja and Torre de Benagalbón belong to the minority of coastal resorts not overrun with promenades, but both were awaiting such projects being prepared by the Department of Coasts.

The Mayor has reported that the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Environment, has published the bidding process for the drafting of the project to construct a promenade at El Playazo beach.
The first phase of the renovation of the promenade in Torre del Mar, originally scheduled to be completed in June 2012, is now finished and the Council has signed the certificate of acceptance.
The promenade in Fuengirola is often used by members of the public for exercise, so the Council has decided to make it an ‘official circuit’ and will next week start installing various signs.

Despite a commitment to complete the renovation of the Torre del Mar promenade before the beginning of July, one of the busiest months of the year in the resort, the work will not now be completed until at least July 14th.
The Council is proposing to request the Ministry of Environment, once the new national government is set up and functioning, to expedite proceedings relating to the construction of a promenade at El Playazo beach, this to include acquiring lands not yet voluntarily surrendered by their owners.
According to the mayor of Vélez-Málaga, Francisco Delgado Bonilla, the renovation of the Torre del Mar promenade will be finished by the middle of June next year, in time for the main summer season which, in Torre del Mar, is July and August.
