Four mountaineers rescued

On Monday night, Guardia Civil Mountain Rescue (Sereim) officers located and rescued four mountaineers who had managed to become disoriented while hiking in the mountains between Málaga and Granada provinces. They had set off from Canillas de Aceituno but the weather caused them to lose their way and they phoned for help.

Local Police in Pizarra rescue trapped Eagle Owl

Local Police in Pizarra were called out to rescue an Eagle Owl caught in a fence in the Zalea area of the town. Once freed, the owl was treated by a local vet and then taken to the Recovery Centre for Endangered Species (CREA).

Andalucia not considering a rescue, yet

The president of the Junta de Andalucia, José Antonio Griñan, has said that for the time being, Andalucia will continue to work with its own resources and watch the market trends before deciding whether it needs to resort to a rescue, as is already the case with several other autonomous regions.

Helicopter rescue in Ronda

A woman who fractured her ankle after a fall in a cave in Puerto de Lifa, Ronda, had to be rescued by helicopter due to the difficulty in accessing the area. She was flown to hospital in Málaga.

Hiker rescued

A 75 year old man had to be rescued after fainting during a hike along the rio Higuerón in Frigiliana. Fire Brigade officers transported him by stretcher to a safe point where he could be airlifted out of the area.

Man trapped under tractor for nine hours

A 39 year old man was rescued after spending nine hours trapped under his tractor after it fell down a slope on his farm in the Las Viñas area of Ardales, Málaga province.

Fishermen rescued after boat catches fire

Four fishermen were rescued early this morning after their boat caught fire about seven miles off the fishing port of Adra, Almeria. All the crew were rescued in good health.
