100 Iberia flights cancelled as a result of strike by pilots

Iberia has cancelled over 100 flights today due to the pilots strike called by the union SEPLA in protest at the company’s plans to start a low cost airline, Iberia Express, in March 2012. A second day of industrial action is planned for Monday.

Strike in Armilla called off

The strike by employees of the cleaning company in Armilla, Granada, is over, at least temporarily, after the Council and the cleaning company agreed to provide €2 million to pay the forty workers who have not been paid since August. The agreement must be fulfilled before next week otherwise the strike will resume.

Iberia pilots strike days announced

Iberia pilots have finally made up their minds about when to carry out industrial action and it will be on December 18th and 29th, dates apparently chosen so as not to create unnecessary disruption to tourism. The strikes will affect about 10% of scheduled flights on those days.

Cleaners return to work in Jerez

Employees of the municipal cleaning company Limasa in Jerez resumed the cleaning of schools in the municipality on Friday after it was confirmed that their October wages would be paid ‘within hours’.

Second day of rail strikes

Around 400 RENFE trains are expected to be affected today by the second strike called by the CCOO union in protest at plans to reorganise the rail freight service.

Rubbish mounts up in Barbate

Three days of strikes by municipal workers in Barbate, Cádiz, with only minimum service levels has left an estimated 180 tons of uncollected rubbish littering the streets.

Strike in Jerez

At 06:00 this morning, employees of the cleaning service Urbaser in Jerez began an indefinite strike with only a minimum service operating.

Jerez bus strike could be extended

Workers at the bus company Urbanos Amarillos in Jerez de la Frontera will meet today to discuss whether to extend their strike indefinitely. The current industrial action is set to continue until April 15th.
