Sunday lunchtime Tapas at El Puente

El Puente on the way into Nerja, by Puente Nuevo, the cobbled bridge, always has some great tapas. This time I had a sort of stew, very meaty and tasty, washed down with a good sized beer, €1.60. Good value.

Tapas at La Puntilla

La Puntilla on calle Bolivia remains one of the top tapas bars in Nerja, full of character and serving some great tapas, especially for those who like fish. A small beer and a tapa is €1.50. On this occasion I had rather a nice salad for a change.

Tapas at La Piqueta

Always nice to sit at the barrels outside La Piqueta on calle Pintada. Tapas are chosen for you so if you have any special dietary requirements then you need to make this known when you order your drink. The staff are happy to oblige. Beer and a tapa, €1.60.

Tapas at Los Bilbainos

Nothing ever seems to change at Los Bilbainos in calle Alejandro Bueno, Nerja, and it remains a bar full of ‘character’. Great place for the local wines – Frigiliana, Arenas, Competa, Málaga.

Tapas at Los Cuñaos, Nerja

Los Cuñaos on calle Herrera Oría, Nerja, has recently reopened so a good excuse to check it out. All is basically as it was before, no major changes. There is a wide choice of tapas, football scarves still adorn the walls and the atmosphere is friendly and vibrant. Delicious fish ‘pinchito’. A beer and a tapa, €1.50.

Tapas at Meson Asador de Castilla

A very pleasant little tapas bar on calle Málaga with a small street terrace at the front. A mixture of tables and barrels inside, good selection of tapas, good portions and a reasonable price. A beer and a tapa, €1.50.

Sunday lunchtime tapas at La Bodeguilla

Sunday lunchtime tapas at La Bodeguilla, always busy, and still great value at €1.80 for a tapa and a bucket of olives. I had a succulent ‘pinchito de pescado’ (bits of fish on a stick) for my first tapa and then, for a second, looked vaguely down the bar and gesticulated at one which looked like mushrooms in a thick …

Mesón Doña Lola

Meson Doña Lola is a new bar on the Plaza Balcón de Europa. The inside is spacious enough, decor is good and it has a reasonably sized terrace. Although you do get a ‘nibble’ with your beer, the main tapas are priced at €1. A small beer was €1.60.

Post Christmas tapas

First stop the Round Bar – El Redondo – in calle Gloria, nearly always lively and serving good tapas before moving on to Vicente in calle Málaga. At €1.30 for a beer and a tapa, Vicente is very hard to beat on the value for money front.

Christmas Eve tapas

Christmas Eve, a good day for a short (two bar) tapas run, and it was Sevillano on calle Chaparil and La Bodeguilla on calle Antonio Millón. Both bars were suitably packed at lunchtime, La Bodeguilla predominantly Spanish and Sevillanos more of a mix, and both had an excellent, jovial atmosphere. Despite being run off their feet, the staff in both …
