Terraces for 2013

December 15th is the deadline for anyone wishing to apply to occupy public roads for terraces for the whole of 2013. Those wishing to apply for certain periods, such as only for the summer season, have until February 28th 2013.

Another establishment loses its tables and chairs

The Council is continuing its crackdown on the illegal occupation of public thoroughfares by catering establishments, either due to the use of excessive space or non-payment of the relevant municipal fees.

Occupation of public roads, licence

Anyone still wishing to apply for a licence relating to the occupation of public roads – i.e. terraces for bars, restaurants and shops – has until December 15th to complete the formalities relating to the whole of 2012.

Council urges bars and restaurants to comply with municipal ordinances

The Council, through the Finance Department, is contacting bars and restaurants that do not adhere to the municipal ordinance relating to occupation of the public roads and owe money to the Council, are exceeding their allocated space or, in some cases, both of these.

The Councillor for Cleaning and Occupation of Public Roads, José Miguel García, has started holding a series of meetings with bar and restaurant owners in the centre of town to discuss rubbish disposal and to ensure that establishments are adhering to the municipal ordinances relating to terraces.

13 chiringuitos ordered to remove their terraces

Contrary to an unwritten ‘understanding’ that beach chiringuitos would be able to carry on as normal this summer and that the whole, messy problem would be sorted out at the end of the year, the Department of Coasts has suddenly given 13 chiringuitos in Málaga province a non-negotiable fifteen days to remove their terraces from the beach area.
