The Sierra Almijara in Nerja is considered one of the great natural areas in the province and the authorities have slowly been trying to make it more attractive for tourists. The Fuente del Esparto recreation area, opened more than a decade ago, was one initiative aimed at tourism.
Vandalism arrest in Vélez-Málaga
Police in Vélez-Málaga have detained a 19 year old youth thought to be part of a gang who caused damage to the Tourist Office on the Paseo de Larios in Torre del Mar over the weekend. The gang damaged street furniture and then hurled a large plant container at the Tourist Office.
Christmas vandalism in Estepona
A nativity scene in a square in Estepona has been burned in an act of vandalism, the second such incident within a week.

Seems to have been a bit of vandalism down at the Carabeo car park, several vehicles with windows smashed, mirrors ripped off and the odd one with doors badly damaged. Only Mercs, though.

Six youths have been detained in El Palo, Málaga, with relation to a number of acts of vandalism in the area.
