Torrox to improve controls on the placing of tables and chairs on public thoroughfares

Torrox Council is planning to improve controls relating to the placing of tables and chairs on public thouroughfares.

The first stage of this project is the setting up of a registry. Bars, restaurants and other establishments have one month to register with the Council. When making applications, it will be necessary to produce documentation such as IAE and Opening Licence.

A duly stamped official permit will then be issued by the Council and this will have to be prominently displayed by the establishment to allow for easy control by the Local Police. A drawing or photograph will also be made to avoid the possibility of error or misunderstandings.

The second stage of the project will be a change in the local ordinance, or by-law, relating to street furniture but this will not be happening until next year. The main aim at the moment is just to get everything properly registered and in a uniform manner.
