Bomb blast in Madrid

etaA car bomb exploded in Madrid this morning in calle de la Ribera del Loira, in front of the offices of Ferrovial Agromán. No-one was injured in the blast as a warning was given and police were able to cordon off the area.

A phone call to the Red Cross at 07:37 informed them that a bomb had been placed in calle Ribera del Loira in the Campo de las Naciones and the security forces then moved to the area.

The car used in the attack, a Peugeot Partner van, had been stolen the night before in Valdemorillo.

Although there were no casualties, material damage was substantial. Windows were shattered, ceilings in the offices were damaged and around fifty vehicles in the area were damaged.

Traffic in the area was severely disrupted and the metro line between Mar de Cristal and Barajas was closed for about 45 minutes.
