The doctor at the Health Centre in Moratalla who suffered gunshot wounds in the early hours of yesterday morning has died from her wounds at the Hospital Virgen de la Arrixaca in Murcia.
The 35 year old woman was a fourth-year medical resident at the centre and came from Cehegín. She was shot four times by a 74 year old retired taxi driver from Barcelona who had arrived at the centre for treatment. An ambulance driver who went to investigate the commotion was also shot and is still in hospital where his condition is said to be stable.
The former taxi driver, arrested immediately after the incident, told police he found the gun, a 32mm Astra, in his taxi in Barcelona some 15 or 20 years ago.
The incident is under investigation by the Court of Instruction Number One in Caravaca de la Cruz.
