Domestic violence fatality in Píñar, Granada province

The Council in Píñar, Granada, has declared three days of official mourning following the violent death of a woman in the town, allegedly at the hands of her husband.

María Fernández Jimenez, a mother of seven children, was shot and killed in the small town of Píñar in Granada province. Her husband, aged 76 years, has confessed to the killing. There was apparently no previous history of problems within the family and the event has shocked this small town of 1,300 inhabitants.

After shooting his wife, the man went to a local bar and told the owner what he had just done and asked him to call the Guardia Civil. This is the second domestic violence fatality in Granada province this year, the first being in Lanjarón.
