New botanical gardens in Frigiliana almost finished

The new botanical gardens in the centre of Frigiliana in the area known as Barribarto are almost finished after more than two years of work.

The project, which covers 6,300 square metres, has been jointly financed by the Mnicipal Council and the EU and has cost in the region of €430,000.

In addition to a large green area, there are now a number (20) of parking spaces available for people picking up their children from the Enrique Ginés school which means these parents no longer have to double park and cause traffic congestion.

There is also an amphitheatre with a capacity for 300 people. This will not only be used for musical events, but will also be used during the upcoming Feria de San Antonio (June). It is here that the bulls will be released!

There are still various finishing touches to be made to these new botanical gardens.

As for a name for these gardens, the current idea is ‘Santa Fiora’. This follows the recent twinning of Frigiliana with the Italian town of…..’Santa Fiora’.
