Helicopters trailing water buckets were visible over Nerja yesterday morning as firefighters battled to extinguish a forest fire in the Río de la Miel area of the Sierra Almijara.
The fire started around 09:00 and destroyed about four hectares of land. The fire was initially extinguished at around midday but the strong winds caused it to reignite and it was not finally put out until 14:00.
