The Councillor for Finance, Isabel Sánchez, has sent a letter to the president of the Nerja Caves Foundation, Hilary López Luna, asking her to issue the relevant order to the caves management to hand over ten percent of ticket sales.
According to the Council, the amount owed by the Nerja Caves Foundation is €322,069.45, a figure excluding January and February 2010.
The Council spokesperson for the Nerja Caves Foundation, José Miguel García (PP), also requested ten per cent of the revenue from the parking, souvenir shop, photo shop and the restaurant but this was rejected by the manager of the Foundation, Angel Ramírez (PSOE).
