The new Torrox theatre in La Rabatilla, behind the IES IES Jorge Guillén, will not now be finished by the end of March as previously planned after the last approved extension to the project.
The new building will have a capacity for 350 people with dressing rooms, multipurpose rooms, administrative offices and an underground car park for seventy vehicles.
The project is costing €7 million, with the Council providing €5 million and the Provincial Council and Junta de Andalucia each providing €1 million each.
The latest delays are, apparently, due to ‘technical difficulties’ relating to lighting and communications and, rather strangely, the need to include the seats, something not foreseen in the original project.
It is now hoped that the building will be finished on July 20th and could be open for use ‘after the summer’.
