The Asociación de Empresarios de Nerja (AEN) has expressed ‘great satisfaction’ at the announcement that the proposed marina will be located in Nerja, although the satisfaction is tempered with caution.
The AEN believe the marina project to be vital for the future of Nerja. The marina project was approved in 1991 and is included in the current PGOU (General Plan).
After virtual approval of Vilches beach, on the border with Torrox, as the latest site for the marina, this was subsequently rejected by the Department of Coasts in favour of the original 1991 site. This does mean, however, that all the administrative procedures, including the Environmental Impact Study, have to be restarted from scratch.
