The company Ingenieros Constructores del Sur (ICS) has been awarded the contract, estimated at €2.4 million, to renovate the promenade in Torre del Mar.
The work will begin in early 2011 and will mostly be funded by the Fund for Modernisation of Tourist Infrastructure (FOMIT) of 2008.
The promenade was built 24 years ago, but according to the Council has a number of shortcomings.
The project will include the renovation of the pavements and internal paths leading from the promenade, renewal of street furniture, repair and renew the lighting, renovate the gardens and incorporate irrigation using recycled water and the installation of a network of bicycle lanes which will join up to avenida Toré Toré and the rio Seco.
