The regional delegate for Environment, Remedios Martel, has announced a one million euro plan to renovate the Forest Defence Centre of Andalucia (CEDEFO) in Ronda.
The facilities have become a strategically important rapid response centre in the case of fire and now cover almost half of the province.
The plans include an extension to the runway to accommodate seven planes and the building of a large water deposit capable of storing up to 200 million litres of water.
Also included in the plans are new parking areas and the extension and renovation of the main buildings located on the road between Ronda and Algodonales.
