Councillors refused entry to the Nerja Caves

Angélica Portillo, Councillor for Culture, and Antonio Gallardo, Mayor of Maro and member of the Nerja Caves Foundation, have complained that they were denied entry to the Nerja Caves for the ‘My First Concert in the Caves’ organised by the municipality.

Portillo and Gallardo, accompanied by members of the local media, say that they were told by caves staff at the entrance that they could not enter without permission. This was apparently confirmed by the manager of the Nerja Caves, Ángel Ramírez, when the group went to his office to seek clarification.

Once the concert was over, the group were given permission to enter.

It had been stated that the caves would be open as normal during these concerts, designed for school children, and that members of the public would be permitted to attend if they so wished.

In which case, there must be more to this than meets the eye or has been reported, bearing in mind the Nerja Caves are a party political battlefield at the moment.
