Now it may not be the sprouts

It would seem time for the German authorities to hold their tongues until there is actual proof as to the source of the E.coli outbreak that has so far killed 22 people.

After first devastating the Spanish horticultural industry, then blaming beansprouts from a nursery in northern Germany, officials have announced that in reality they are no closer to knowing the true source of the outbreak after all tests at the nursery have so far yielded negative results.

Who or what will get the blame next?

On Monday afternoon German officials admitted that 23 of the 40 samples being tested from the alleged source of the outbreak had proved negative, although maintaining that the suspect farm was still a possible source.

The owner of the sprout farm, in the village of Steddorf, is reported as saying he is baffled at being implicated, saying his sprouts were grown with nothing more than water and seeds.
