Eleven arrested for robbery and drug trafficking

Eleven people have so far been arrested in Granada and Jaén provinces in connection with a number of robberies carried out on farmhouses and, at the same time, two drugs operations have been dismantled.

The investigation began after a number of robberies from farmhouses and cottages during May and June and several house searches were carried out in Algarinejo and Huétor Tájar. During the searches, police discovered two kilos of pure cocaine in condoms, leading to the conclusion that the drug had been brought in from Bolivia and Argentina by mules.

Also seized was 600 grams of zinc oxide, regularly used in the cutting process with cocaine. Once processed, the cocaine would have its weight multiplied by five. Large quantities of marijuana and hashish were also found during the searches.

The initial investigation related to the robberies but one of the suspects was found to have sold some of the stolen goods in exchange for drugs and this led to an expansion of the operation and the seizure of the drugs.

Of the eleven people arrested, six are men aged between 18 and 35 years, two are women aged 18 and 29 years and three are minors.

Amongst the items recovered during the police raids were shotguns, rifles, a motorcycle, a laptop and a water pump.
